Essential oil refers to the general term for volatile aromatic substances obtained from the processing and extraction of spice plants or fragrance secreting animals. Typically, essential oils are volatile aromatic compounds extracted from plant parts such as flowers, leaves, roots, seeds, fruits, bark, resin, and wood cores using methods such as steam distillation, cold pressing, liposuction, or solvent extraction. Essential oils are divided into diluted (compound essential oil) and undiluted (single essential oil), such as clove essential oil. Essential oils have strong volatility and will quickly evaporate upon contact with air, so they must be stored in dark bottles that can be sealed.
